Finals hopes fade for A-grade

-

A-grade: Finley 17 def by Nathalia 45.

A-grade hit the court against the strong Nathalia side, hoping for the win to keep finals in sight.

The girls knew the game would be tough coming up against one of the top teams, and the wet weather made it even tougher.

Injury and fatigue saw the team make some big changes to positions in the third quarter, and the fourth quarter saw another change in positions for the girls.

Throughout the game, the girls continued to fight for the ball and held their heads up. The final score did not reflect the effort put in on court.

Katie Archer received the McNaughts best on award for her continued drive and thirst for the ball, and for her strong voice and team encouragement the whole game.

Savannah Wilson received the Country Club voucher for her big efforts in defence.

B-grade: Finley 11 def by Nathalia 59.

The first half saw a lot of unforced errors from both teams due to a slippery ball and a few tumbles were taken.

It wasn’t our day, but every quarter was played with effort and to the girls credit they did not give up and enjoyed the team spirit.

Awards: Kelly Grains Best on Court award — Lauren Kerr, Hong Loch Finley Chinese Restaurant award — Sherrene Thompson.

C-grade: Finley 22 def by Nathalia 49.

With the rainy weather and a wet court to contend with, the attack end started strong with Lozzie Swadesir and Tamzin Bell working hard to score goals.

The second half saw a change up of Sarah Bauer coming into the shooting end with very good results.

Special mention to Dakota Pyle for her first ever senior game in the midcourt, and also to Heather Raeburn who worked very hard for the game.
