B-grade out of the finals race

It was an unexpected but welcomed finals appearance for our B-grade outfit.

Without the usual starting seven, added extras meant a couple of inclusions. It was a very consistent hit out from both Strathmerton and Berrigan, with some spectacular passages of play as you would expect in finals features.

Defence were stoic and battled all day, and the Saints kept the Strathy side on edge and clawed their way within three goals at one stage.

There was great guidance by the experienced players, and well done to those junior players who took it all in their stride.

Everyone fought their hearts out, playing against a very strong fifth placed team. Unfortunately we couldn’t come away with a win.

Under-13s: Berrigan 10 def by Katandra 18. What an amazing effort to make finals this year. The girls fought so hard every quarter, playing against a very strong fifth-placed team in the rain.

Some great intercepts and lovely passages of play, well done girls, you should all be very proud.

Under-17s: Very proud of all the girls in under-17s. We only had seven players and every week the girls stepped up and played well. Unfortunately we just missed out on finals, looking forward to a bigger and better 2023.
