Finley district reunion this Saturday
Faces from the past will be making an appearance in Finley on Saturday, as the Finley and Surrounding Towns Reunion takes place.
Organisers are expecting more than 130 former and current residents from Finley, Blighty, Mayrung, Jerilderie, Berrigan and other small locations around the region to attend.
Reunion organiser Ed Phillis, who now lives in Tamworth, is the driving force behind the event.
Ed, who just turned 75, grew up in Finley and wants to reconnect with people he knew in his time living locally.
Those attending the Finley and Surrounding Towns Reunion are asked to turn up at the Finley RS Club at 2pm. The catch up will run through until 5.30pm.
A cut-off age of 45 years was placed on the invitation, but Ed said nobody would be turned away from attending.
Children are welcome to join in the fun, accompanying their parents.
Greg McNamara will MC the afternoon, which will include a mingle, some speeches and photographs.
After dispersing for dinner, attendees are invited back to the RS Club for music supplied by Ray Macartney.
Table bookings are required by contacting the RS Club on 5886 1366.
Cost of the event is $10 per person to cover the event costs.
Those attending the reunion have the opportunity to also visit and enjoy the wonderful collections and displays at Finley’s three museums before heading to the RSC for the afternoon catch-up.
The Finley Foundry Museum, as well as the Finley Historical Museum and Log Cabin, will be open from 10am to 2pm.
The Finley Railway Station will welcome visitors from 10am to 12pm.
