The Coleambally Junior Blues under-13s netball side gave it their all last Saturday at Ariah Park to go down 30-11 against Leeton/Whitton in grand final.
After riding the wave of emotions and town support the whole week, the girls started really well to be four-all at quarter time.
However, the Crows only grew in strength though the middle of the game to score 18 of the next 21 goals.
The Coly girls never gave up but we’re out thought in the end.
Jessie Pound was named Coleambally’s best player, closely followed by Charlize Perkins and Amber McGown.
Both A-Grade teams in Coleambally and CSU brought their absolute best with a high physical game in the elimination final on Sunday at Marrar.
At quarter time, CSU led 10 - 3, with Coly getting away slowly.
The fight back came through the middle quarters as the GD (CSU) and GA (Coly) battle was elite.
At half-time, CSU led 22-16. Coly took the lead 30-29 in the
third quarter, but CSU led again on 32-31 heading into the final stanza.
It was goal-for-goal in the last, and when the final whistle blew it was 44-all with overtime being required.
Coly held their own but were down 48-49 after the first five minutes.
CSU continued to push hard and won 54-51 in an epic encounter.
