C-reserve head straight to the grand final
The top two Murray League C-reserve sides didn’t disappoint the huge crowd in their much anticipated semi-final match at the Finley Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
With both Finley and Moama looking to progress straight to the grand final, the game started with a goalfor-goal run before the Finley girls took a three point lead into quarter time.
The break wasn’t what they needed, with a slow start to the second quarter.
The Cats slowly got back into their rhythm and capitalised with strong attack and tight defensive pressure to go into half-time with a hard fought five goal lead.
The premiership quarter in the third saw them extend the margin to eight, but Moama came out with force in the last to bring the margin back to four at the last whistle.
Final score: Finley 43 def Moama 39.
Best on Court went to Karen Donkin for her smart work in the ring, and dominant rebounds.
Coach’s award went to Bridget Tegart for her composure on the last line of defence.
The team would like to thank everyone for coming out and cheering us on.
It was awesome to have a huge crowd to get us over the line, and hopefully we can get them all to Moama on grand final day too.
