In addition to Mr John Thompson’s appointment, Cobram AGS is thrilled to announce that Mrs Fiona Clark will be stepping up into the role of Head of Junior School in 2023.
Having spent the past 18 months teaching at Cobram AGS after crossing over from Cobram Primary School, Mrs Clark has already established a great connection with many students and families within the Junior School.
In her short time at Cobram AGS, Mrs Clark has observed a safe, happy place, where everyone is known and valued, and where differing needs are acknowledged, accepted and met.
Her overarching vision for the Junior School is to provide high quality education in a safe, respectful and inclusive environment that builds a foundation for life-long learning.
Mrs Clark also considers it imperative that there is strong collaboration and communication between families and staff members to ensure that each student has the best chance of success, whether that be defined as academic, social or personal success.
With a firm eye on curriculum development and trends that are so vital in developing students’ skills in their formative years of schooling, Mrs Clark views key teaching practices such as focusing on high expectations, wellbeing, explicit teaching and the use of data to inform practice as being critical components of what Cobram AGS provides as they have “proven to improve student outcomes”.
Speaking on her appointment, Cobram AGS Principal, Mr Keith Willett, said Mrs Clark had shown tremendous leadership qualities since commencing at the School.
“Fiona is a very calming influence who has demonstrated in her short time with us, a considerable wealth of understanding around what constitutes a good primary school education,” Mr Willett said.
