Biralee’s stars are dancing again

- By Alexandra Wilson

Biralee Preschool Finley is once again holding it’s major annual fundraiser, Dancing With The Stars, after a two-year COVID-19 enforced break.

The fundraiser involves 10 people, unknown to each other at the beginning, paired up to learn to dance as couples.

The 2022 event is Season 5 of the Biralee Preschool Dancing With The Stars.

This year’s contestants are Nathan McKay and Kylie McLean, Nic Burns and Bronte Russell, Adam Horneman and Jess Pether, Allan Price and Kerrie Carlon, Scott Jensen and Sasha Congram.

Dance teacher extraordinaire Vicki Ackers is providing their instruction.

The 2022 dance crew has been excitedly preparing for this very special event for the last eight weeks.

Biralee Preschool committee of management president Jane Harris said this season of Dancing With The Stars brings the total to 50 incredible individuals who have thrown caution to the wind and courageously danced to raise money for the children and families of our community.

“After a two-year break, we have a few surprises up our sleeves to come back bigger than ever.”

Previous winners of the Dancing With The Stars are:

Season 1: 2016 – Shelly Massina and Warren

Lang; Season 2: 2017 – Emma Hurlston and Paul Bramley; Season 3: 2018 – Steph Price and Nick Robertson; Season 4: 2019 – Abbey Bruest and Sam Price.

“Our major sponsor for this year’s event is Pether Ag and we are so grateful for their support, both financially and on the dance floor with Jess Pether as one of our 2022 contestants,” Mrs Harris said.

“Biralee is a community preschool with a management committee made up of volunteer parents.

“During the pandemic we celebrated our 50th anniversary.

“Countless people from the local community have given their time over that 50 years to keep the preschool running as an essential service for the children and families of Finley and district.

“We are now excitedly looking towards the future with plans underway to build a brand new, state of the art education facility.

“Funds from this year’s Dancing with the Stars will go towards our building fund.”

Mrs Harris said no other event in town brings together our whole community in this

way and there are only 20 tickets left so if you want to be part of this exciting event, head to Betta Home Living in Finley to secure tickets.

If you can’t make the main event, a dress rehearsal show is on Friday, November 4 at 12.45pm.
