Smith smashes a glorious 100

-

In scenes reminiscent of the ‘74/75 Ashes with Doug Walters at the WACA, Cooper Smith entered the Coleambally Nomads B-grade game last Saturday batting at nine on a mission.

After a masterful innings of 63 balls - including seven fours and seven sixes - Smith was stuck on 94 for the last ball of the innings.

Nothing held the strapping lad back as he set his eighth six over the fence, to bring up 100 not out against the Exies Diggers.

Defending 275 in 40 overs on the Wade oval, wedding bound Sunil Babu picked up three wickets. Jack Kidd and Tommy Munn also had three each to bowl the Diggers out for 87.

The undermanned C-grade team didn’t fare as well, bowled out for 82 in 16 overs with Alex Pound top scoring on 28. They tried hard with ball but went down by four wickets.

Junior cricket has resumed. Families should check out the club Facebook page, or call Neil Burke on 0428 281 919 for registration details.
