All Tocumwal Bloods grades in great form

- A-grade

Under wet windy conditions the Tocumwal A-grade game against Deniliquin was cut down to a 32 over each match.

Toc was sent in to bat and a fantastic team effort saw the side make 9/127.

Every player contributed.

With a good opening stand between Cody Deegan and Michael Roberts, backed up by a steady second wicket partnership between Deegan and Reilly Rennick, allowed the Bloods to be in a good position for the middle order to keep the runs ticking over.

Luke Dinan again contributed well with the bat, hitting a couple of sweet sixes.

The lower order all contributed in some way, with some especially good running and hitting in the last overs from Pat Bennett, Zac Dixon and Liam Sutton.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t quite back this effort up with the bowling, with Deni getting the runs down.

Andy Arthur bowled another fantastic spell and was very unlucky to not have a bag of wickets.

The fielding and effort was good the whole innings, with the highlight being Tom Oliver stopping a six and hitting the ball back into play.

There are some really good things to build on as a team after a fantastic effort put in by all players.

The team looked fantastic in their new red kits thanks to our sponsors.

B-grade

In the B-grade, Tocumwal played Berrigan after a rain delayed start.

We were sent in to bat with Ranji Oliver (72 no) and Corey Percy opening the batting.

Percy and Michael Laver helped hold up an end before getting out.

New recruit Josh Wraight (27) came in and stirred up the quicks with a great knock - showing us he is a very handy batsman - before getting caught.

Daniel Bennett (7) held up an end with Oliver to see off the quicks before getting caught by a one handed stretch.

Sam Bennett (5) batted well following up on his great knock in the under-14s.

A short delivery got Sam caught in the slips bringing Marlon Webster (1 no) to the crease, making his first official score in cricket.

Our bowling started well with Laver and Joe Barker hitting a good length and taking two wickets.

Jeremy Packer picked up a wicket.

Daniel and Cooper Mangion took a catch each.

Berrigan reached our score, but had to work hard to get there.

The fielding was again excellent.

A great team effort against Berrigan’s best.

Under-16s

Day one of the under-16s saw Toc play Finley at home.

After losing the toss, Toc were sent into bowl. The Finley openers got off to a quick start, but some smart bowling from Joe Barker bought about the false shot popping a catch to Liam Sutton.

Finley were 1/16.

From there Finley were looking for a partnership, but Logan White spoiled the party taking 4/9 off four overs.

Tom White also pitched in with 1/6 off four. Some confident catches from Rory Shepherd and Jeremy Packer saw Finley finish the first half of the match 6/68 after 20 overs.

Liam Sutton and Reuben Haley opened the batting and got off to a good start before Reuben was given LBW, bringing Sam Bennett to the crease.

Sam and Joe both lost quick wickets leaving Toc 3/15.

Jeremy and Logan managed to steady the ship, building a terrific partnership of 50+ by finding

the boundary on multiple occasions, including Jeremy popping one over the boundary for six.

Logan eventually popped up a mistimed shot to bring in Rory Wiles, and then Tom White as the night watchman to see out the last over.

Toc finished the first half the game 7/84 with Jeremy 32 not out after 20 overs.

Under-14s

In the under-14s, Sam Bennett and Tom White had a cracker of partnership to take Toc to 1/101 on the first day.

They finished the innings on 37 and 36 not out, respectively.

In the bowling, Archie Chellew, Tom and Lucas Baron all got one wicket each.

Liam Sutton got 2/3 off four overs and James White got 3/3 off two overs to hold Berrigan at 8/29 at the end of 20 overs.

Under-12s

In the Under-12s, Tocumwal played Finley at Finley and came home with the win - 103 to 83.

With great numbers, we had two players offer to fill in for Finley, so we could even out the teams.

Thanks Imogen and Layla.

This week's captain, Arlo, won the toss and sent Finley into bat.

Toc's first over claimed wicket number one, bowled by Lucas. He claimed another in his second over.

Max also claimed two wickets, along with Arlo and Joel getting one each.

Toc's opening batters, Lucas and Joel, got off to a great start with Lucas top scoring on 15.

Archie also batted well, hitting a four and finishing on seven runs.

Well done to all our players on a great game and thanks to Andrew Jones for umpiring and Nathan for scoring.
