Sponsored cage for club

Southern Telegraph - - News -

The Rockingham Swimming Club’s younger squads will have a safe space to store their equipment thanks to the sponsorship of a cage from Rockingham and Warnbro MLAs Mark McGowan and Paul Papalia.

Club president Grant Beste said the cage saved about 40 squad members, aged 11 to 14, from having to take their swim equipment bag to school and then to training.

“Many of these kids get to training from school via public transport, so the ability to travel with less equipment helps the kids manage so much better and get to training less stressed,” he said.

“We, like many sporting clubs in the area, are a not-for-profit organisation that raises money through a number of fundraising endeavours.

“Fundraising allows us to continue to buy updated equipment used to keep the kids in the pool and also to help the kids of the Rockingham community reach their potential. The cage represents active support from two of our community leaders and parents will be suitably impressed to see we have this form of support.”
