Man­durah seeks sports stars for first awards

Man­durah is look­ing for in­di­vid­u­als and clubs that have achieved suc­cess or made a sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tion to sport and recre­ation in the city for its inau­gu­ral sports awards.

Man­durah City Mayor Ma­rina Ver­gone en­cour­aged peo­ple to nom­i­nate sports­peo­ple, teams and clubs who they thought made an out­stand­ing con­tri­bu­tion to the city’s sport­ing scene.

“There are hun­dreds of peo­ple in our com­mu­nity who are pas­sion­ate about lo­cal sports, and this is a great chance to high­light their ded­i­ca­tion and thank them for their valu­able con­tri­bu­tion,” she said.

“Whether it’s a lo­cal player, vol­un­teer, coach or sport­ing club mem­ber, we would like to see a large range of nom­i­nees rep­re­sented across all sports in the inau­gu­ral awards.”

Cat­e­gories in­clude Se­nior Sportsper­son of the Year, Ju­nior Sportsper­son of the Year, Sportsper­son of the Year with a Dis­abil­ity, Club Vol­un­teer of the Year, Man­durah Team of the Year and Man­durah Club of the Year.

Nom­i­na­tions are due by Septem­ber 30, with win­ners to be an­nounced on Novem­ber 18.
