Fam­ily-friendly flicks sure to thrill

En­ter­tain­ing the chil­dren these school hol­i­days has been made easy, thanks to a fan­tas­tic se­lec­tion of fam­ily movies at United Cine­mas Rock­ing­ham.

Open­ing in time for the hol­i­days is 3D film Pix­els, a sci-fi ac­tion com­edy star­ring Adam San­dler and Kevin James.

This ex­cit­ing ad­ven­ture be­gins af­ter aliens mis­in­ter­pret video feeds of clas­sic ar­cade games as a dec­la­ra­tion of war and they at­tack the Earth in the form of the video games.

Com­ing to Rock­ing­ham on Septem­ber 17 is the fam­ily com­edy Odd­ball, which fol­lows the story of Allan “Swampy” Marsh and his Maremma dog Odd­ball.

Swampy con­vinced lo­cal author­i­ties to al­low Odd­ball to pro­tect a colony of Lit­tle Pen­guins on Mid­dle Is­land from wild cats and dogs.

Odd­ball suc­ceeds in his cam­paign and be­comes a fron­trun­ner for Maremma dogs be­ing used to pro­tect other en­dan­gered Aus­tralian wildlife.

In ad­di­tion, chil­dren can look for­ward to watch­ing Pan, a new spin on the clas­sic Peter Pan story.

Af­ter an or­phan is spir­ited away to the mag­i­cal Nev­er­land, he finds both fun and dan­ger and ul­ti­mately dis­cov­ers his des­tiny — to be­come the hero who will be for­ever known as Peter Pan.

Star­ring Hugh Jack­man, this film will be sure to please the whole fam­ily.

Fi­nally, another clas­sic has had a re­vamp with a brand new Blinky Bill film head­ing to cine­mas these hol­i­days.
