Workshop explores mental benefits of art
The benefits of art on mental health will be explored at the Art of Wellbeing workshop in Kwinana on October 7, as part of Mental Health Week.
Held at Medina Hall, the workshop, presented by the Disability Services Commission and the City of Kwinana, is aimed at increasing awareness of mental health and connecting people with the health providers in the region.
NDIS My Way regional director Russell Smith said people with disabilities and their families needed accurate information so they could make choices which best met their needs.
An event spokeswoman said the day involved a variety of uplifting activities such as art sessions, relaxation techniques, morning tea and giant lawn games.
She encouraged all Kwinana residents to attend to create abstract pieces of art.
The expo starts at 9am and will finish at 1pm.
