Healthy options or indulgence at Ellie’s

Southern Telegraph - - Entertainment -

With a new dinner menu and fantastic range of healthy meal options, Ellie’s Cafe is the perfect place to dine any time of day.

Owner Kylie Mitchell understands not everybody eats raw, vegan, vegetarian or paleo diets, so she has opted to serve a selection of meals for all food lovers.

“I did not want the business to cater to just one target group. I want to make sure that everyone can find something on the menu to suit them,” she said.

“Vegetarians or people with dietary requirements can bring their family for lunch or dinner and not have to worry about the menu choices.”

The cafe features all-day breakfasts with pancakes, bacon and eggs on sourdough toast, and vegetarian, paleo or regular big breakfast options.

Lunch is a casual affair with homemade salads, fresh rolls and sandwiches, focaccia, burgers and seafood.

For the past three weeks, Ellie’s Cafe has been open for dinner, serving entrees of sauteed chorizo, pork belly, vegan patties and garlic prawns, and a mains menu featuring steaks and burgers and vegetarian meals.

Ms Mitchell said the coffee was fantastic and the cafe’s cold drinks, including pressed juices and protein smoothies, were made to order.

“We serve Five Senses Dark Horse blend coffee, which is hard to find anywhere south of the city, and we make delicious cakes and raw treats to satisfy the need for something sweet,” she said.

“We are so unique, and while the cafe has been here just over two years it is continuing to grow and expand,” she said.

“At Ellie’s Cafe we love making it easy to eat healthy and at the same time can offer the ultimate indulgence food. Life is about enjoying yourself and we are firm believers of this.”
