Braves win in double-header
The Rockingham Rams took on the Melville Braves over the weekend at Hourglass Reserve for the Round Four State League double-header.
In the first game, Rockingham scored two runs in the first innings. Rockingham starting import pitcher Josh Frye was able to keep the strong Melville bats at bay until they managed to tie the game late after Rockingham squandered some scoring opportunities.
The game went into extra innings and Melville was able to score four runs on the back of a game-breaking double to win 6-2.
The second game saw Rockingham jump to a 3-0 lead. Starting pitcher Benn Grice kept the Melville line-up scoreless through the first four innings until the Braves tied it up in the fifth.
After seven complete innings the game was tied at five. In the eight inning the Braves forced the game open with four runs capped by a three-run home run with the Rams going down 10-5.
