Braves win in dou­ble-header

The Rock­ing­ham Rams took on the Melville Braves over the week­end at Hour­glass Re­serve for the Round Four State League dou­ble-header.

In the first game, Rock­ing­ham scored two runs in the first in­nings. Rock­ing­ham start­ing im­port pitcher Josh Frye was able to keep the strong Melville bats at bay un­til they man­aged to tie the game late af­ter Rock­ing­ham squan­dered some scor­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties.

The game went into ex­tra in­nings and Melville was able to score four runs on the back of a game-break­ing dou­ble to win 6-2.

The sec­ond game saw Rock­ing­ham jump to a 3-0 lead. Start­ing pitcher Benn Grice kept the Melville line-up score­less through the first four in­nings un­til the Braves tied it up in the fifth.

Af­ter seven com­plete in­nings the game was tied at five. In the eight in­ning the Braves forced the game open with four runs capped by a three-run home run with the Rams go­ing down 10-5.
