Bal­divis claim ninth straight win

The Brumbies are now eight points clear at the top of the Peel Foot­ball League af­ter serv­ing up yet an­other mas­sive win, this time over Halls Head on Satur­day.

With nine straight vic­to­ries at the half­way mark of the sea­son, Bal­divis look un­stop­pable as they cruise to the fi­nals.

Halls Head be­gan the game at Bal­divis Oval strongly, kick­ing ahead 3.4 to the Brumbies 1.3 in the first quar­ter.

They re­mained 12 points in front as they headed into the half-time break but a fired-up Brumbies side emerged from the locker room and the tide be­gan to turn.

A seven-goal third-quar­ter ef­fort and an­other five in the fi­nal term let Bal­divis see the game out with a 38-point win.

Halls Head could only man­age four goals for the sec­ond half, re­main­ing in sec­ond spot on the lad­der af­ter the 17.12 (114) to 11.10 (76) de­feat.

Bal­divis had nine goal kick­ers, in­clud­ing Ja­cob Brown­ley and Daniel Kim­ber­ley, who bagged five goals each.

Rock­ing­ham Rams fought bravely in their match against South Man­durah on Sun­day.

But they could not hold them off, go­ing down by 19 points at An­niver­sary Park.

The Rams had a 10-point lead head­ing into half time but the Fal­cons kicked away to fin­ish the game 10.10 (72) to Rock­ing­ham’s 8.5 (53).

Kyle Hinch­cliffe led the way for the Rams with three goals, while Shaun Nor­man kicked two and was named in the side’s best play­ers.

Round 10 next week will see both teams play on Sun­day, with Rock­ing­ham to face a tough bat­tle with Halls Head and the Brumbies take on Man­durah once again at Bendigo Bank Sta­dium.
