SmartWatch catches its first hoon
A new mobile surveillance service on the streets of Rockingham has caught its first hoon driver.
SmartWatch comprises a fleet of six high-tech cars each equipped with high-definition video cameras that can live-stream to Rockingham Police Station for real-time monitoring of situations.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels praised the mobile surveillance service after a hoon driver was caught in the act last week. “Footage was taken of a driver behaving dangerously and we have passed the details of the car, driver and registration number on to the police for further investigation,” he said.
Residents concerned about hooning are encouraged to contact police.
