Man to face court on child sex charges

A Bal­divis man who al­legedly hung around play­grounds and fast-food restau­rants across Perth’s south to talk to chil­dren has been charged with 15 child sex of­fences.

Ar­madale De­tec­tives set up a mo­bile po­lice van at Trusty Park in Bal­divis in Fe­bru­ary to talk to chil­dren who had spo­ken to the man.

Po­lice will al­lege the 58-year-old man vis­ited fast­food out­lets, park play­ground ar­eas and shop­ping cen­tres across Perth’s south­ern sub­urbs between 2013 and 2017.

He has been charged with one count of an in­de­cent act, seven counts of be­ing near a pub­lic place as a child sex of­fender and seven counts of in­de­cent deal­ings with a child un­der 13 years.

He will ap­pear in the Perth Mag­is­trate’s Court on May 17.
