Three boys ar­rested over pri­mary school break-in

Po­lice have ap­pre­hended three boys un­der the age of 10 who al­legedly broke into East Waikiki Pri­mary School last week.

The boys, aged seven, eight and nine, were found at about 8pm on Mon­day, De­cem­ber 11, when po­lice were called to the school.

Po­lice said the boys en­tered a class­room, rum­maged through prop­erty and re­moved some items.

The boys were ar­rested but no charges were laid be­cause of their age.

Un­der Fed­eral law, chil­dren un­der 10 years old are not held crim­i­nally re­spon­si­ble for their ac­tions, ex­cept in Tas­ma­nia and the Aus­tralian Cap­i­tal Ter­ri­tory.
