Four talented and innovative young artists have shared the top prize in the City of Rockingham Libraries Junior Bookmark Competition conducted during the school holidays in October.

The competition, launched across the City of Rockingham’s four libraries, encouraged school students to design and create bookmarks to showcase the artistic creativity of young local people and the City’s extensive library services.

The winners are Jordon Cockrell, Madison Cockrell, Gabriel Nsair and Molly Bemet.

All four will be presented with their awards at a special function at the Mary Davies Library and Community Centre on Friday, January 19, at 2pm.

The winning designs will be reproduced and made available for use by young readers.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the competition, which attracted 160 entries, was an effective way to encourage young people to show their creativity and at the same time allow their designs to depict the best things about the lifestyle of the Rockingham community.

“It also showed once again the depth of the artistic talent of our young people,” Cr Sammels said.
