Racing gives boost to long lunch auction
With excitement building ahead of the Rockingham Kwinana Chamber of Commerce Long Table Lunch later this month, the event’s entertainment and auction items are being shored up.
Entering its fourth year, the celebration on the sand is popular with local residents and visitors who travel to Rockingham for the day.
The lunch gives those who attend the chance to sample the best culinary delicacies the region has to offer, with a marquee set up on the beach at the Rockingham foreshore. The auction is also a popular part of the day, with Pearce Racing getting involved again this year to provide shares in a racehorse for the winning bidder or syndicate.
Dan Pearce said both Keeper Keen and half-brother Keeper Mean had been much-coveted prizes in the past two years.
“Obviously we want to support the chamber and local businesses,” he said.
“It is really important to get some exposure and business awareness for the horse racing industry within the Rockingham area also.”
Renowned auctioneer Tiny Hol- ly has been signed up again this year.
Chamber executive assistant Diana White also confirmed that WA football great Ross Glendinning and former West Coast Eagles defender Sam Butler would be in attendance.
Some Like it Yacht will provide the entertainment, with a mix of 70s and 80s pop rock on the playlist, while acoustic duo Jams and Tash will play in the intermission.
The Long Table Lunch will take place on Saturday, March 17.
