Dealership cracks national awards
Rockingham Hyundai has continued its recent record of success and burgeoning reputation for excellence after winning a national award last week.
The Rockingham business was named the 2017 National Platinum Dealer of the Year at Friday’s annual Hyundai Awards Night.
This is the first time a WA dealership has won the Australia-wide accolade.
Rockingham Hyundai dealer principal John Leech was delighted with the recognition on a national level.
“It has been a long journey, but with the focus and dedication from all of the team we accomplished the unthinkable and came home with the top national award,” he said.
Rockingham Hyundai also won the CSI Service of the Year award, while four staff members claimed individual accolades.
Dan Richards was named sales manager of the year, while Steve Nelson scooped the parts manager of the year prize.
Dale Abbott also won the service manager of the year award, while Harshala Ramaiya was named accountant of the year.
The news follows Rockingham Hyundai claiming success locally, after being named the corporate business award winner at last year’s Rockingham Kwinana Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
The dealership was opened at 12 Smeaton Way in May 2008 as a pilot scheme for Automotive Holdings Group and Hyundai in the Rockingham area. After two years, it was decided to move to new premises at 1 Carlston Road.
The business sells new and demo Hyundai and Suzuki vehicles and carries about 70 pre-owned vehicles at any time.
Rockingham Hyundai and Suzuki services about 500 to 600 cars a month in its state-of-the-art service department and also offers manufacturers’ parts. Tyres and batteries are also available on-site.
Since its inception, the business has grown from 12 employees to about 40.
Sales at Rockingham Hyundai and Suzuki have gone from about 15 vehicles a month to in excess of 140, while most of the company’s staff live in the Rockingham and Mandurah area.
