Healthy in­ter­est in prac­tice sem­i­nars

Samy Med­i­cal Prac­tice is no or­di­nary med­i­cal cen­tre. It is a fam­ily prac­tice op­er­at­ing on fam­ily val­ues that en­sures you and your fam­ily re­ceive high-qual­ity care at bulk-billing rates.

The team is proud to as­so­ciate with pa­tron Caro­line Hume in the Healthy Living for Di­a­bet­ics pro­gram, a so­cial ini­tia­tive that be­gan last week and will help 40 di­a­bet­ics holis­ti­cally man­age their con­di­tion.

The pro­gram, which started with a sem­i­nar on nu­tri­tion by Bre­anne Roy, is man­aged by Pro­fes­sor Dr Martin Samy and ded­i­cated health pro­fes­sion­als, in­clud­ing GP Dr Christa­bel Samy, phar­ma­cist Animesh Chat­ter­jee, personal trainer Hay­den Dod­son, and nu­tri­tion­ist Ms Roy.

The team will pro­vide holis­tic mon­i­tor­ing and man­age­ment through ex­er­cise, reg­u­lar med­i­cal checks, med­i­ca­tion re­view and nu­tri­tion con­sul­ta­tion.

The prac­tice also has free health sem­i­nars this month.

Par­tic­i­pants can lis­ten to Dr David Rock speak about de­pres­sion and sui­cide, with the sem­i­nar to give in­sight into com­mu­nity-based in­te­grated ap­proaches that work in the real world.

A sec­ond sem­i­nar on os­teo­poro­sis from Dr Rob Wills will also be held at the prac­tice. Os­teo­poro­sis is a di­lap­i­dat­ing con­di­tion where peo­ple are more likely to break bones even from the gen­tlest of falls.

It de­vel­ops com­monly in both men and women, yet has no vis­i­ble symp­toms, with risk increasing the older a per­son be­comes.

By be­ing aware of your bone den­sity, Dr Wills’ sem­i­nar will help you pre­vent this dis­ease from neg­a­tively affecting your health.
