Speed camera scepticism

Southern Telegraph - - Opinion - Ric Collins, Rockingham

Pardon me for being somewhat sceptical about the use of speed cameras.

While school zones are a criterion for placement of mobile speed cameras, one wonders at the reasoning behind the location of such a mobile camera on the verge outside Rockingham Senior High School on the last day of term at 3.45pm.

All the students had gone home, the crossing attendants had packed up their flags and gone, the staff carpark was empty and for the next two weeks the road speed limit would be 70km/h.

Was it in aid of safety or revenue that the mobile speed camera was so located at this time?
