Strong fo­cus on com­mu­nity needs

For more than 30 years the Rock­ing­ham com­mu­nity has been guided through their health needs by fam­ily-owned and op­er­ated gen­eral prac­tice Read Street Med­i­cal and Skin Cen­tre.

With a va­ri­ety of spe­cial in­ter­est ar­eas among the highly ex­pe­ri­enced GPs, the cen­tre has a strong fo­cus on meet­ing the grow­ing needs of the com­mu­nity.

Over the past few years the ser­vices within the cen­tre have in­creased.

From Mon­day to Fri­day the cen­tre op­er­ates skin can­cer and skin check book­ings with Dr Wee, who has a par­tic­u­lar in­ter­est in skin con­cerns.

“Not only do we help to treat th­ese is­sues, but we also make sure we take the time to ed­u­cate our pa­tients on the preva­lence of skin can­cer,” Dr Wee said.

“Ed­u­ca­tion and pre­ven­tion is of the ut­most im­por­tance when it comes to the pa­tient’s long-term health.”

Work­ing closely with Ter­ryWhite Chem­mart Rock­ing­ham — Read Street for sev­eral years, the phar­ma­cists of­ten refer skin care pa­tients, among many more, to the clinic com­mu­ni­cat­ing of­ten to sup­port pa­tient care.

Along with skin care ser­vices, the cen­tre pro­vides ev­ery­thing from cos­metic fa­cial treat­ments, acupunc­ture treat­ments, women and chil­dren’s health­care, man­age­ment of com­plex and chronic needs, ear care treat­ment and more.

Once a month the cen­tre col­lab­o­rates with Aus­tralian Hear­ing to pro­vide free hear­ing as­sess­ments which, when nec­es­sary, is fol­lowed up by free sup­port to the over-65s.

New pa­tients are al­ways wel­come with ap­point­ments avail­able from 8am to 6.30pm week­days and 8am to 1pm on Satur­days.

Ap­point­ments for valid aged pen­sion con­ces­sion card hold­ers and chil­dren un­der 16 are bulk-billed.
