Barron warms up for world champs
Rockingham Triathlon Club’s duathlon series comes to a close with the last race of the series this Sunday from 8am at Foreshore Drive, Singleton.
In last weekend’s men’s short course race, Alex Barron had a solid hit out before the World Championships on the Gold Coast, easing ahead of Alex Kaputin and David Forbes, with Lucca McConnachie pressing for the podium in his first showing with the club.
Nikki Pursell was in a hurry in the women’s short race, laying down a super first run leg and did not hold back on the bike, leaving Kimberly Smith, Sarah Corbin and Tara Walsh battling for the minor placings with Smith second, ahead of Corbin.
The pace was boiling hot in the men’s long course.
Brett Johnson led the way to secure the win from Wade Adam with Greg Manning third.
In upcoming events, the club’s Off Road Duathlon at Sloan Reserve Leda will be on Sunday, October 14, and the Charity Cup Fun Run is at Rockingham beach on Sunday, October 28.
