Boosting fitness for over-60s in Baldivis
The City of Rockingham’s Seniors Social and Wellbeing Program has been rolled out in Baldivis for the first time.
The program is aimed at people aged 60 and over and consists of social and physical activities conducted by fitness professionals from the Aqua Jetty.
The program was first delivered to seniors at Golden Bay Coastal Community Centre in May and now seniors in Baldivis have the chance to join in the program at Baldivis Recreation Centre. Mayor Barry Sammels said the program was a fantastic way for seniors to boost their fitness in a friendly environment.
“Following the feedback we received from a survey for seniors living in Baldivis, the City is proud to introduce the Seniors Social and Wellbeing Program to Baldivis,” Mr Sammels said.
“The growth of the program in Golden Bay and the demand for it in Baldivis indicates seniors in the city value the chance to get fit, both physically and mentally.
“The exercise professionals from the Aqua Jetty specialise in senior health and fitness, so there’s no better place to improve your health and form some great relationships along the way.”
The program is offered to the community free of charge on a trial basis.
It runs from 10am-11.30am on Mondays and from 9am-10.30am on Wednesdays at the Baldivis Recreation Centre on Fifty Road.
