God­frey, Allen Flames MVPs

Ryan God­frey and Mad­die Allen were named re­spec­tive men’s and women’s Rock­ing­ham Flames MVPs at the club’s awards night and 25th an­niver­sary ball last Fri­day night.

Men’s cap­tain God­frey re­ceived the award af­ter av­er­ag­ing 15.4 points, four as­sists and 3.1 re­bounds per game and shoot­ing at nearly 42 per cent from the field.

He regis­tered dou­ble fig­ure scores in all bar five of his 30 games in 2018.

Allen, de­scribed by coach Ryan Petrik as “the best de­fen­sive player in Aus­tralia”, can add the women’s MVP award to earn­ing a Perth Lynx con­tract af­ter a stel­lar first sea­son in Rock­ing­ham.

She was also named in the WSBL All-De­fen­sive Team of the Year af­ter av­er­ag­ing 11.75 re­bounds, 2.9 blocks and 12.75 points per game.

Justin Beard was named Most Im­proved Men’s Player af­ter a break­out sea­son, while Greg Hire claimed the Coaches Award, while Jesni Cooper was Most Im­proved Women’s Player and Ari­ana Hether­ing­ton re­ceived the Coaches Award.
