Godfrey, Allen Flames MVPs
Ryan Godfrey and Maddie Allen were named respective men’s and women’s Rockingham Flames MVPs at the club’s awards night and 25th anniversary ball last Friday night.
Men’s captain Godfrey received the award after averaging 15.4 points, four assists and 3.1 rebounds per game and shooting at nearly 42 per cent from the field.
He registered double figure scores in all bar five of his 30 games in 2018.
Allen, described by coach Ryan Petrik as “the best defensive player in Australia”, can add the women’s MVP award to earning a Perth Lynx contract after a stellar first season in Rockingham.
She was also named in the WSBL All-Defensive Team of the Year after averaging 11.75 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and 12.75 points per game.
Justin Beard was named Most Improved Men’s Player after a breakout season, while Greg Hire claimed the Coaches Award, while Jesni Cooper was Most Improved Women’s Player and Ariana Hetherington received the Coaches Award.
