Orchestra to soar at free concert

Southern Telegraph - - News -

The sound of music will flow through the air at Calista Park on December 1 when the Perth Symphony Orchestra performs a free community concert as part of this year’s Tianqi Lithium Symphony Spectacular.

The 55-piece orchestra will perform its take on hits by INXS, George Michael, Queen, Icehouse, and Fleetwood Mac as well as film classics from Star Wars, Gladiator and Slumdog Millionaire.

Tianqi Lithium Australia general manager Phil Thick said the sponsorship allowed the business to contribute something unique and valuable to the community.

“This event is unlike any other that has been run in the City of Kwinana and we are very pleased to play a significant part in bringing it to the community that we are very proud to be a part of,” he said.

“It really is something for all ages to enjoy and from the preview we have been given, it will be an awe-inspiring event that we hope will enrich the lives of those who come to enjoy it.”

Concert-goers are encouraged to bring chairs, rugs and a picnic.

Food will also be available to buy.

A free shuttle bus service will be operating to and from the Wellard and Kwinana railway stations from 5.30pm-10pm.
