Mariners total tests visitors
Rockingham-Mandurah has set Midland-Guildford a challenging total on day one of their round six WA Premier Cricket clash at Lark Hill on Saturday.
The Mariners batting order all contributed, with three half centuries in the score of 8-318.
Captain Craig Simmons equal top scored with 60 from 95 balls, and gave his team the opportunity to bat after winning the toss.
Opener Tyler Robertson set the foundations for the advance later in the day with his patient 60 soaking up 147 balls . He combined with James Bracey (22) for 42 runs and added 55 with Dane Ugle (23) as Rockingham-Mandurah reached lunch at 2-90.
The Burrage boys played their part with a 44-run stand for the fifth wicket.
At 7-215 the Mariners may have rued the lack of an individual three-figure score, but Adam France belted the tiring Midland bowlers all around the park, striking three lusty sixes and a four to register 51 from 64 balls.
The highest partnership of the day came for the eighth wicket as France paired with skipper Simmons for 76 to push the Mariners past 300.
