Mariners to­tal tests vis­i­tors

Rock­ing­ham-Man­durah has set Mid­land-Guild­ford a chal­leng­ing to­tal on day one of their round six WA Premier Cricket clash at Lark Hill on Satur­day.

The Mariners bat­ting or­der all con­trib­uted, with three half cen­turies in the score of 8-318.

Cap­tain Craig Sim­mons equal top scored with 60 from 95 balls, and gave his team the op­por­tu­nity to bat af­ter win­ning the toss.

Opener Tyler Robert­son set the foun­da­tions for the ad­vance later in the day with his pa­tient 60 soak­ing up 147 balls . He com­bined with James Bracey (22) for 42 runs and added 55 with Dane Ugle (23) as Rock­ing­ham-Man­durah reached lunch at 2-90.

The Bur­rage boys played their part with a 44-run stand for the fifth wicket.

At 7-215 the Mariners may have rued the lack of an in­di­vid­ual three-fig­ure score, but Adam France belted the tir­ing Mid­land bowlers all around the park, strik­ing three lusty sixes and a four to reg­is­ter 51 from 64 balls.

The high­est part­ner­ship of the day came for the eighth wicket as France paired with skip­per Sim­mons for 76 to push the Mariners past 300.
