Deli fined for health breaches

Rock­ing­ham’s Kent Street Deli has been fined $20,000 by the Health Depart­ment.

Clean­li­ness, pests and a fail­ure to store foods to pro­tect from con­tam­i­na­tion were among a rap sheet of con­vic­tions handed out to the deli.

The busi­ness was also or­dered to pay costs of $1800 for the of­fences af­ter health depart­ment in­spec­tors vis­ited the venue in June.

The no­tice of con­vic­tion was handed to the busi­ness ear­lier this month.

Busi­ness owner Shan­non Whit­more was con­victed for fail­ure to store food to pro­tect from con­tam­i­na­tion, fail­ure to store po­ten­tially haz­ardous food un­der tem­per­a­ture con­trol, and fail­ure to pro­vide means of ef­fec­tively dry­ing hands at or near each hand-wash­ing fa­cil­ity.

The Tele­graph con­tacted the own­ers for com­ment, but they did not re­spond by dead­line.
