Cycle of success a show of keen focus
With the running of the State Criterium Championship on Sunday, the numbers were down for Peel District Cycling Club’s Time Trial at Hopeland, with several regulars choosing to ride in the State titles.
But not Michelle McLintock, who arrived early to secure the first starting spot and then rode the 16km circuit in a very impressive 23min. 57sec. for third-fastest time of the day.
McLintock then headed to Bayswater and backed up to win the 30-39 Masters Women’s State title.
Lennon McLintock was the fastest rider on the day in 21:44, while Steve Knight rode 22:48 to be the second-fastest rider.
McKenzie Willis, racing in her first time trial, was the unluckiest rider of the day after two punctures ended her race after 3.5km.
A criterium at Alumina Way, Rockingham will be run on Sunday, with the next time trial at Hopeland early in the new year.
