For most people Christmas is the season for overindulging and feasting. But for others, affording food is a struggle.

In the spirit of Christmas, the City of Rockingham Returned and Services League sub- branch and the Rockingham Rotary Club hosted a preChristmas lunch on December 19 in support of the local homeless community.

Australian Homeless Advocate chief executive Owen Farmer said he was delighted that the RSL had rallied behind the homelessness in Rockingham at a tough time.

Rockingham RSL’s Bob Cooper said the lunch had been in the works a few years.

“We hope it will be the first of many Christmas lunches and will become a yearly event,” he said.
