ACTRESS TASTES SUCCESS IN LA

Southern Telegraph - - NEWS - Chloe Fraser

Last year was a big one for Rockinghamraised actor Krystina Tasker.

Since leaving for the glittering lights of Los Angeles almost six years ago, Tasker has well and truly fulfilled her acting dreams.

The past 12 months have been a wild ride for the 23- year- old, who landed several acting gigs, including a recurring role on soap opera Days of Our Lives, to voicing hit video game Life is Strange, and appearing in a commercial with John Cena.

But a surprising role in upcoming Hollywood film Wyrm had the former John Curtin College of the Arts student on the edge of her seat.

Directed by Christopher Winterbauer, Wyrm is set in 1995 in an alternate reality where children’s sexual and emotional developments are monitored by their school district using remote monitoring collars.

The collars can only be removed once a child completes their first sexual development requirement — having his or her first kiss.

Joining co- stars Rhea Seehorn ( Better Call Saul) and Sosie Bacon ( 13 Reasons Why), Tasker wrapped up filming for the movie back in August.

She described her role in Wyrm as one of her most challenging yet.

“The project came as a surprise to me,” she said.

“I remember after I auditioned I thought I’d never be right for the role, but within 24 hours I had booked the job and started work a week later.

“My character Alexis is one of the more mature girls in school. She passes her sexuality test earlier than most her age and is one of the first to remove her remote monitoring collars. There’s parts of the movie that were a bit of a stretch for me, but I got through it eventually and it was a really fun experience.”

Recently joining the actors union in LA, the 23- year- old said she was focused on improving her craft and learning more about the industry. “You have to build a really tough skin . . . hearing ‘ no’ over and over again,” she said.

“But when we hear ‘ yes’, you know all the training and work has paid off.

“I just want to be in a place where I am consistently booking work.”

Krystina Tasker has had a successful year as an actress in Los Angeles.
