Rental home trashed

Southern Telegraph - - NEWS - Rory Campbell

A Medina property owner is without a home after tenants trashed his house while he was overseas looking after his sick father.

Darius Molaee privately leased his Medina house to a single mother- of- three children when he went to Germany to care for his father.

But when he returned to check the house he needed protective equipment just to step foot inside.

“Everything was covered in fleas, cockroaches, food, faeces,” Mr Molaee said.

Insurers have not assessed the house yet, fearing methamphetamine levels inside the home and possible contamination. Cockroaches still run rampant in the property.

“This is after five times of fumigation,” Mr Molaee said.

He said the tenants moved in at the end of May and by the start of October they were gone.

The RSPCA confirmed it had to remove several animals from the house.

A 31- year- old woman has been charged with fraudulently selling a chainsaw to a pawn shop. “I really do feel like I’ve been taken advantage of and I can’t do anything about it,” Mr Molaee said.
