Make new year’s res­o­lu­tions stick

The ar­rival of 2019 rep­re­sents a fresh op­por­tu­nity for res­i­dents to tackle their New Year’s res­o­lu­tions.

The City of Rock­ing­ham of­fers a wide range of ser­vices to help peo­ple reach their goals, and whether they be so­cial en­gage­ment, men­tal health or phys­i­cal fit­ness tar­gets, the City has a num­ber of fa­cil­i­ties and pro­grams on of­fer fo­cused on boost­ing com­mu­nity well­be­ing.

Res­i­dents look­ing to im­prove their fit­ness can be­come a mem­ber at the Aqua Jetty in Warn­bro, which as one of the City’s premier health fa­cil­i­ties in­cludes a 50m heated out­door pool, 25m heated in­door pool, in­door leisure pool with slide, hy­drother­apy pool, sauna, spa and steam room and a ful­lye­quipped health club.

Rock­ing­ham Aquatic Cen­tre also of­fers a range of wa­ter sport op­tions, while those look­ing to take part in group fit­ness classes can check out what’s on of­fer at Warn­bro Com­mu­nity Recre­ation Cen­tre, and a num­ber of team sports are played at Mike Bar­nett Sports Com­plex.

The Rock­ing­ham Alzheimer’s and De­men­tia Walk­ing Group gives peo­ple liv­ing with de­men­tia, and their car­ers, a chance to make new friends while keep­ing ac­tive in a wel­com­ing and sup­port­ive en­vi­ron­ment.

Once a month the City also fa­cil­i­tates the Drop in the Ocean mem­ory cafe for peo­ple liv­ing with de­men­tia and their car­ers.

All of the City’s li­braries of­fer an abun­dance of re­sources and ac­tiv­i­ties for learn­ing while the Rock­ing­ham Vol­un­teer Cen­tre gives res­i­dents the chance to make a pos­i­tive con­tri­bu­tion to their com­mu­nity.

The City also of­fers an op­por­tu­nity for res­i­dents to con­nect with other com­mu­nity mem­bers through its So­cial Con­nec­tor Lun­cheon Pro­gram; over food and drink res­i­dents can meet and con­nect with each other and form last­ing friend­ships.

Mayor Barry Sam­mels en­cour­aged res­i­dents to check out the wide range of ser­vices and fa­cil­i­ties on of­fer through­out the City.

“The start of a New Year of­ten in­spires peo­ple to make a num­ber of New Year’s res­o­lu­tions, and here at the City of Rock­ing­ham we are pleased to of­fer a range of ser­vices that can help res­i­dents im­prove their health and well­be­ing,” he said.

“There’s no bet­ter time to start work­ing on those res­o­lu­tions than now, so what­ever your age, back­ground or goals, I en­cour­age res­i­dents to ex­plore the fan­tas­tic range of op­tions avail­able across the City.”
