Men­tal ill­ness in mu­si­cal spot­light

Pas­sion­ate Lives and Foun­da­tions for a Bet­ter To­mor­row are look­ing for singer/ song­writ­ers from Rock­ing­ham and Kwinana with a lived ex­pe­ri­ence of men­tal ill­ness for an ex­cit­ing new pro­ject.

The groups will be sup­port­ing seven singer/ song­writ­ers to write and record an orig­i­nal song around the theme of hope, and film­ing a video di­ary of the jour­ney.

Pas­sion­ate Lives, based in Kwinana, runs men­tal health train­ing cour­ses and founder Trys Red­dick is pas­sion­ate about break­ing stereo­types around men­tal ill­ness and sui­cide preven­tion.

To­gether with lo­cal youth worker Lau­ren Rick­ert, he co- founded the Kwinana Al­liance against De­pres­sion, sup­ported by the WA Pri­mary Health Al­liance and Kwinana MLA Roger Cook.
