Centre encourages skin cancer checks
The team at Shoalwater Medical Centre is encouraging patients to put their skin first by making use of the practice’s skin cancer checks.
Since opening in 2015, Shoalwater Medical Centre has been committed to providing a friendly, caring and professional service to the community.
Practice manager Rebecca Hughes said the practice’s experienced team of doctors could check, detect and, in most cases, remove melanomas at the practice without needing to see a specialist.
“All of our doctors have extra training in skin cancer detection,” she said. “Skin checks are very important, but it’s one of the things patients tend not to do. Early detection is the No. 1 prevention for skin cancer, so the longer you leave it, the worse it could be.”
In addition to skin checks, the centre’s range of clinical technology and expertise includes experienced GPs, on- site physiotherapy, chiropractor, psychologist, dietician, podiatry, hearing checks and pathology.
Shoalwater Medical Centre is open from 8am- 7.30pm Monday to Friday, and from 8.30am- 4pm on Saturdays.
