Ro­mance on the Green a day out for all mu­sic lovers

Grab a blan­ket, pack a pic­nic and take the love in your life to the Vil­lage Green on Flin­ders Lane in Rock­ing­ham on Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 23 for the third an­nual Ro­mance on the Green.

The set­ting will be en­chanted by the ma­jes­tic sounds of the Perth Sym­phony Orches­tra from 6pm- 10pm as part of the City of Rock­ing­ham’s Sum­mer Se­ries of free, fam­ily- friendly, smoke- free and al­co­hol- free events.

Pa­trons will be able to en­joy the swelling sounds of PSO and spe­cial guests, con­ducted by Jes­sica Gethin, as they play a num­ber of iconic pieces.

The au­di­ence will be treated to a se­ries of or­ches­tral clas­sics, film tunes, rock hits and mu­si­cal theatre an­thems. There will also be a photo booth, giant games, and food and drink ven­dors.

The event is not just for lovers and Mayor Barry Sam­mels en­cour­aged res­i­dents of all ages to be a part of the au­di­ence.

“Since host­ing the first Ro­mance on the Green event in 2017, thou­sands of peo­ple have em­braced the op­por­tu­nity to wit­ness the Perth Sym­phony Orches­tra per­form live,” he said.

“This year we can ex­pect to hear ren­di­tions of clas­sics in­clud­ing Barcelona, Fields of Gold, Great South­ern Land, I Will Sur­vive, Wanna Be Startin’ Some­thin’, The Prayer and I Still Call Aus­tralia Home.”

Park­ing will be avail­able at the carparks at the Gary Hol­land Com­mu­nity Cen­tre and be­hind the Rock­ing­ham Mu­seum, and at any other avail­able park­ing in the vicin­ity.

At­ten­dees are en­cour­aged to utilise pub­lic trans­port, and bus ser­vices on the 555 route will be ex­tended un­til 10.30pm op­er­at­ing ev­ery 15 min­utes.
