Romance on the Green a day out for all music lovers
Grab a blanket, pack a picnic and take the love in your life to the Village Green on Flinders Lane in Rockingham on Saturday, February 23 for the third annual Romance on the Green.
The setting will be enchanted by the majestic sounds of the Perth Symphony Orchestra from 6pm- 10pm as part of the City of Rockingham’s Summer Series of free, family- friendly, smoke- free and alcohol- free events.
Patrons will be able to enjoy the swelling sounds of PSO and special guests, conducted by Jessica Gethin, as they play a number of iconic pieces.
The audience will be treated to a series of orchestral classics, film tunes, rock hits and musical theatre anthems. There will also be a photo booth, giant games, and food and drink vendors.
The event is not just for lovers and Mayor Barry Sammels encouraged residents of all ages to be a part of the audience.
“Since hosting the first Romance on the Green event in 2017, thousands of people have embraced the opportunity to witness the Perth Symphony Orchestra perform live,” he said.
“This year we can expect to hear renditions of classics including Barcelona, Fields of Gold, Great Southern Land, I Will Survive, Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, The Prayer and I Still Call Australia Home.”
Parking will be available at the carparks at the Gary Holland Community Centre and behind the Rockingham Museum, and at any other available parking in the vicinity.
Attendees are encouraged to utilise public transport, and bus services on the 555 route will be extended until 10.30pm operating every 15 minutes.
Romance on the Green returns this month with a performance from the Perth Symphony Orchestra at the Village Green.
