Developer says apartment living holds strong appeal
Apartment living is on the rise in Rockingham with buyers favouring the location and convenience of apartments over traditional suburban homes, a developer says.
The property group behind the newly constructed Azure Beachside Apartments in Rockingham said the project had attracted significant interest from local owneroccupiers, with more than 80 per cent of buyers coming from surrounding suburbs.
Located on the corner of Flinders Lane and Empress Corner, the complex features 51 one, two and three- bedroom apartments over seven storeys, priced from $ 399,000 to $ 599,000.
Nearly two years after construction began, buyers last weekend received the keys to their new homes.
The apartment lifestyle holds great appeal to Fred and Lois Johnson, who were among the first residents to move into the apartment complex.
Recently relocating to Rockingham from South Australia, the couple were among 60 per cent of the project’s buyers who bought an apartment off- the- plan either before or during the construction period.
Mrs Johnson said the level of finish and design, the ocean views, and the locality of the complex lifted it above others.
“We were looking to downsize and for something with low- to- no maintenance,” she said.
“Rockingham has really a relaxed vibe. It’s got all the services you would need but with a country town feel.
“The apartment also has a lot of appeal and a lot of individuality.”
