Seniors get active in have a go day
The Seniors Recreation Council of WA held its annual Have a Go Day in Rockingham last week.
The free event sees seniors come together and take part in a variety of activities with a wide range of static displays offering senior-specific information.
An estimated 700 people attended throughout the day and there were 80 seniorspecific exhibitors/service providers on show from the Rockingham and surrounding areas.
Exhibitors at the event last week included Naragebup — Environment Centre, the Mandurah Districts Orchid Club, Prime Movers, RAD Walkers and Heart Foundation, Rockingham Woodworkers Club, Safety Bay Petanque Club and the Taoist Tai Chi of Australia.
Several activities were also held throughout the day, including petanque, tai chi and swing dancing, as well as a performance from Janies Boys Choir.
MLC Kate Doust attended the event, along with Opposition leader Mike Nahan and MLA Alyssa Hayden.
The event was co-ordinated and run by the SRCAW Rockingham Branch with support from the State Office.
