Se­niors get active in have a go day

The Se­niors Recreation Coun­cil of WA held its an­nual Have a Go Day in Rock­ing­ham last week.

The free event sees se­niors come together and take part in a va­ri­ety of ac­tiv­i­ties with a wide range of static dis­plays of­fer­ing se­nior-specific in­for­ma­tion.

An es­ti­mated 700 peo­ple at­tended through­out the day and there were 80 se­nior­spe­cific ex­hibitors/ser­vice providers on show from the Rock­ing­ham and sur­round­ing ar­eas.

Ex­hibitors at the event last week in­cluded Narage­bup — En­vi­ron­ment Cen­tre, the Man­durah Districts Or­chid Club, Prime Movers, RAD Walk­ers and Heart Foun­da­tion, Rock­ing­ham Wood­work­ers Club, Safety Bay Pe­tanque Club and the Taoist Tai Chi of Aus­tralia.

Sev­eral ac­tiv­i­ties were also held through­out the day, in­clud­ing pe­tanque, tai chi and swing danc­ing, as well as a performance from Ja­nies Boys Choir.

MLC Kate Doust at­tended the event, along with Op­po­si­tion leader Mike Na­han and MLA Alyssa Hay­den.

The event was co-or­di­nated and run by the SRCAW Rock­ing­ham Branch with sup­port from the State Of­fice.
