Man toface court on string of charges
A Scarborough man has been charged after he allegedly stole a car in Waikiki on Saturday.
About 2.20pm on April 20, the man allegedly went to a home in Meridian Mews and used force to steal a red Toyota coupe.
During the process, police said the owner of the vehicle and neighbours were assaulted and required medical attention.
The stolen vehicle was then seen by police near Fremantle about 3pm.
No pursuit was engaged by police vehicles; however, the police air wing was used to follow the stolen car throughout multiple suburbs over a period of an hour.
About 4pm police used a stinger to slow the stolen vehicle in Sackville Terrace, Scarborough.
A short time later the vehicle was stopped in Joyce Road Scarborough and the man was taken into custody and has been charged with two counts of aggravated home burglary and commit, aggravated armed robbery, threatening to injure, endanger or harm, stealing, stealing a motor vehicle, assaulting a public officer, aggravated assault and assault occasioning bodily harm, aggravated unlawful wounding and reckless driving to escape pursuit by police.
A number of police and civilian vehicles were damaged during the incident but there were no serious injuries.
Police would like to hear from anyone who was struck by the stolen car during the incident, or any person who has dash cam footage on 131444.
