Burglary and sex charges
A man accused of breaking into a southern suburbs home and raping a young girl who had been sleeping has appeared in court to face charges relating to the attack.
Daniel Jon Altieri, 29, appeared in Rockingham Magistrate’s Court on Monday via video link from Casuarina Prison.
He has been charged with six counts of sex offences against the young girl, who is of primary-school age, as well as aggravated burglary and threatening to kill. However, he has not yet pleaded to any of the charges. The attack allegedly occurred in the early hours of Saturday, February 23, with police alleging Mr Altieri broke into the young girl’s home and sexually assaulted her.
The girl’s father found Mr Altieri in the home, detaining him in a citizen’s arrest until police arrived.
Police have not released the suburb where the alleged attack took place, the age of the victim or other details of the incident to protect the identity of the victim and her family.
Mr Altieri will next appear in court in July.
