HUGE CATTLE SALE
BUYERS and sellers from far and wide came to town on Thursday for Stanthorpe’s Blue Ribbon Weaner Sale.
More than 3000 head were yarded on the day. It was a fantastic opportunity for the Stanthorpe Show Society to showcase their new yard facilities.
Organisers were pleased with the facilities and amount of participants on the day.
Maugan Benn from George and Fuhrmann praised the show society for the huge upgrades they’ve undertaken.
“Exceptionally happy with what the Stanthorpe Show Society has done as far as improvement to the yards,” he said.
While yard number’s were high, prices weren’t at similarly record levels. Mr Benn said the dry season had dealt a blow to a lot of people.
“Last year was an exceptional year, rain come at the right time for us... this year it’s obviously gotten very dry which has put a fair bit of pressure on the cattle market.”
