THE second Johnny Cash Country Festival has arrived, with the annual event set to take over town from tomorrow evening.

The Arcadia Cinema will be the site of the first part of the program, as organisers put on a showing of Stagecoach, a movie in which Cash starred.

It’ll be followed by a documentary, Johnny Cash Live in Denmark.

Saturday morning is when things really get going as Blue Violets take to the main street piazza (all free) from 10am. They’re followed by the Man in Black Competition from 10.45am. Supreme Cash impersonator Paul Rye will perform a 45minute set before Heartworn Highway round the piazza entertainment out at 1pm.

The day’s main event at the Stanthorpe Exhibition Centre (tickets $40) starts from 3pm with a DJ, MC David Iliffe opening the event before Heartworn Highway return to the stage. The Sugarshakers, Legends of the Opre and Dale Hooper round out the main acts.

Free buses will be available to and from the event. Pick-up and drop-off is outside the old ANZ building at 3pm and then between 10–10.30pm.
