A huge thanks
ON Friday, October 19, the fourth annual Light the Night Event was held.
Despite unpredictable weather, the event was a huge success. We thank Andrew Kendall, principal of St Joseph’s School, for allowing us the use of the Bathersby Centre to allow the event to proceed.
Light the Night is not just a fundraising event for the Leukaemia Foundation. It is a gathering of our community to show their support for those facing their own cancer journey and to remember loved ones lost.
The role of the Lantern Ambassadors provides a special element to the event, as these people bravely share their personal stories.
This year, over $9000 has been raised from our small community for a wonderful organisation that has assisted many of our families during their darkest days.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the many who give time and talent to ensure the success of Light the Night. A huge thank you to Morwenna Harslett, Belinda Lister and Esther Plath, David and Sarah Hume, Jo Barker and the St Joseph’s Choir, who provided entertainment.
Thank you to Stanthorpe Lions for sponsorship and assistance with the sausage sizzle, Stanthorpe McDonald’s for donating onion, Foxy’s Bakery for the bread and Stanthorpe Aerated Waters for donating ice.
Thank you Louise, Kirsty, Tara and Bianca from Country Kids Early Learning for providing face painting.
Thank you to Fiona, Debbie, Kylie, Nicole, Daniel and Emma who helped sell lanterns and other products.
Thank you to members of the Leukaemia local branch who assisted at the event and to those who provided delicious baking to sell.
Thank you to Cooper Wren for capturing the special moments on his drone and to the Border Post for the many articles. We thank the businesses who donated prizes and everyone who helped in any way.
We look forward to planning 2019’s Light the Night.
