Ten years of Probus Stanthorpe
THE Probus guest speaker for November was Amanda Harvey from Queensland Rail.
Amanda travelled all the way from Brisbane to give us an informative and interesting talk on all the major Queensland Rail holiday packages.
This included the tilt train, which runs from Brisbane to Rockhampton, the Spirit of Queensland which goes from Brisbane to Cairns in 25 hours, the Gold Savannah and several outback rail experiences.
Club members were all surprised at the quality and comfort provided in rail travel and the cost is very reasonable.
Probus members will certainly want to travel by train to see more of Queensland.
THIS month 45 members travelled by bus to the Beenleigh rum distillery.
On the way we stopped at the chocolate factory and the famous Yalata pie shop for lunch.
The club then visited the rum distillery and purchased their products which were all good.
PROBUS celebrated its 10th birthday in Stanthorpe on Tuesday.
Mal Pidgeon gave a talk on the history of Probus in Stanthorpe which had club members listening intently.
The club enjoyed a nice big cake at the event at the RSL for what was a good morning with good guest speakers.
The inaugural members were presented with a 10 year award certificate in recognition of their dedication and loyal service and capturing and developing the true spirit of Probus fun fellowship and friendship.
The club has its Christmas party coming up on December 12 at the RSL.
Probus is also planning for pizza in the park on January 16 next year.
