THE Delaney family golf day, a medley 4BBB stableford, was played last Saturday.
The event was played in memory of Kev Delaney, an accomplished sports person, a keen golfer and a mentor to junior golfers during his time at the club.
Thanks to Gem, Rod and Kerrin and other members of the Delaney family for again sponsoring the day and travelling to Stanthorpe to participate in the day’s event. Ian Pickering and Max Hunter combined well to win the day after they returned a score of 47 points.
Ian was in good form to do the bulk of the scoring with Max backing him up to record 26 points on the front nine.
The back nine was not quite as good but 21 points in was good enough.
Plenty of teams on 45 points but the count back gave runner-up to Darryl Boekholt and Neta Thouard.
Also on 45 points were Dave Burgess and Matt Burgess for second runner-up and Matt and Nikki Waterworth on third runner-up.
Ladies’ approach at 8 won by Annelle Batterham, men’s approach at 13 to Brendan Barker. Nikki Waterworth collected ladies long drive and Dave Burgess for the men.
Best front nine won by Santo Cavallaro and Mike McAuliffe and best back nine to Tom and Trish Fittock.
Brendan Barker collected the pin at 3, Alan Kerr at 12 and Matt Waterworth at 17.
Neta Thouard held the ladies pin at 12 and Trish Fittock had best approach at 17. Pro-pins went to Rod Delaney at 1/10 and Matt Burgess collected the rest. Matt Waterworth collected the birdies nest at the second hole. Special appreciation to Margaret for again looking after the barbecue.
Next Saturday is the December monthly medal and putting competition, sponsored by the club.
Following the day’s competition is the club Xmas party, an open invitation to all members.
Please RSVP by adding names to the invite sheet.
Winners of major trophies for the year will be announced as will men’s and ladies ‘Golfer of the Year’.
