The Summit Bowls
ON Saturday, December 29, we had 24 players take part in a PBL style two bowl triples. This format speeds up the game.
Winners of the “Winners” section were Tina Schubert, Paul Zamprogno and Lindsay Hartley.
Winners of the “losers” section were Dale Barker,
Owen O’Brien and Michael Sweeney.
Coming up on January 15 is Tuesday’s Turkey Triples.
Our thanks go to Peter for cooking two Christmas Parties along with the help of Meg, Carol and Mary with Eddie and Rob. Also to Tony and Carl for cleaning up after these social events.
Stanthorpe Bowls Club
THE start of a new bowling year and although some members are away enjoying the holiday season on Saturday we played one game of 3 bowl triples and two games of three bowls pairs. In the triples Gordon Gallaway John Fairley and John Cooke managed a win over Remo Zeppa Helen Jones and Jeff Aldridge 20-17.
In the first of the pairs John Graham and Mary Zeppa proved too strong for Ray Rankin and Selyne Fairley 23-16 whilst in the other pairs match Dot Rankin and Brian Brown triumphed in a close fought thriller over Cliff Jones and Ernie Jones 19-18.
The club is planning to introduce a mid-week competition this year and details will be released once planning is finalised in the meantime we extend an invitation to all travelling bowlers to come and enjoy a game with us any Wednesday or Saturday afternoon.
We are also very keen to welcome anyone who wants to try our sport so please contact us to arrange your free introductory game of lawn bowls.
Golf Monthly Medal
WE had a total of eight ladies contest the first Monthly
Medal of this year on January 2. Neta Thouard showed her golfing ability and skills to win this event with a beautiful Nett Score of 68. Well done Neta. Closely following was Lynette Ludlow with a Nett 69. Beautiful play. Run down went to Helen Jones. Kay Webb putted well to win the putting competition with 26 putts. Pin Shots went to Trish Fittock on the 12th hole. Lynnette Ludlow took the approach on 17. Kay Webb won the 5/14th. It was pleasing to see Mary McLucas returning to golf. Welcome back Mary.
Next week the Ladies will play a Single Stableford. All visitors are welcome and Tee Off time for the Ladies is 8.15am.
A WIN for Norm Steele on Sunday with Dick Hilton the Runner-up. The run-downs went to Phil Zikan and Ivan Jurriss. Brendon Barker had the Best Gross. Stuart Rayner took the Pin Shot on the 3rd and Brendon took the Pro Pin. Paul Byrnes and Paul Leotta were the lucky Meat Tray winners.
Same time tee-off next Sunday between 7-7.30am.
