The Sum­mit Bowls

ON Satur­day, De­cem­ber 29, we had 24 play­ers take part in a PBL style two bowl triples. This for­mat speeds up the game.

Win­ners of the “Win­ners” sec­tion were Tina Schu­bert, Paul Zam­progno and Lind­say Hart­ley.

Win­ners of the “losers” sec­tion were Dale Barker,

Owen O’Brien and Michael Sweeney.

Com­ing up on Jan­uary 15 is Tues­day’s Turkey Triples.

Our thanks go to Peter for cook­ing two Christ­mas Par­ties along with the help of Meg, Carol and Mary with Ed­die and Rob. Also to Tony and Carl for clean­ing up af­ter th­ese so­cial events.

Stan­thorpe Bowls Club

THE start of a new bowl­ing year and al­though some mem­bers are away en­joy­ing the hol­i­day sea­son on Satur­day we played one game of 3 bowl triples and two games of three bowls pairs. In the triples Gor­don Gall­away John Fair­ley and John Cooke man­aged a win over Remo Zeppa He­len Jones and Jeff Aldridge 20-17.

In the first of the pairs John Gra­ham and Mary Zeppa proved too strong for Ray Rankin and Se­lyne Fair­ley 23-16 whilst in the other pairs match Dot Rankin and Brian Brown tri­umphed in a close fought thriller over Cliff Jones and Ernie Jones 19-18.

The club is plan­ning to in­tro­duce a mid-week com­pe­ti­tion this year and de­tails will be re­leased once plan­ning is fi­nalised in the mean­time we ex­tend an in­vi­ta­tion to all trav­el­ling bowlers to come and en­joy a game with us any Wed­nes­day or Satur­day af­ter­noon.

We are also very keen to wel­come any­one who wants to try our sport so please con­tact us to ar­range your free in­tro­duc­tory game of lawn bowls.

Golf Monthly Medal

WE had a to­tal of eight ladies con­test the first Monthly

Medal of this year on Jan­uary 2. Neta Thouard showed her golf­ing abil­ity and skills to win this event with a beau­ti­ful Nett Score of 68. Well done Neta. Closely fol­low­ing was Lynette Lud­low with a Nett 69. Beau­ti­ful play. Run down went to He­len Jones. Kay Webb putted well to win the put­ting com­pe­ti­tion with 26 putts. Pin Shots went to Tr­ish Fit­tock on the 12th hole. Lyn­nette Lud­low took the ap­proach on 17. Kay Webb won the 5/14th. It was pleas­ing to see Mary McLu­cas re­turn­ing to golf. Wel­come back Mary.

Next week the Ladies will play a Sin­gle Stable­ford. All visi­tors are wel­come and Tee Off time for the Ladies is 8.15am.

Sporters Golf

A WIN for Norm Steele on Sun­day with Dick Hil­ton the Run­ner-up. The run-downs went to Phil Zikan and Ivan Jur­riss. Bren­don Barker had the Best Gross. Stu­art Rayner took the Pin Shot on the 3rd and Bren­don took the Pro Pin. Paul Byrnes and Paul Leotta were the lucky Meat Tray win­ners.

Same time tee-off next Sun­day be­tween 7-7.30am.
