OUR Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Doubleview has encouraged all members of the community to visit and use the facilities at its new parish centre.

The complex comprises the Rosary Community Centre and Dominican Priory, a residency for the parish priests.

Father Peter Hoang, who was appointed parish priest in September, said the new building was an important resource for the parish to bring people together.

“If you want to create a sense of community, you need a place for people to come and share their stories,” he said.

“Every week we have something different; for example, the first week of the month on Saturday evening we have cheese and wine for those who come, the second week we have pizza for the youth, the third and fourth we have morning teas.

“It caters for a lot of different groups. It doesn’t focus on just one end; no one misses out.”

The backyard patio of the centre contains a lifesize statue of Saint Dominic, representing the history of the Dominican presence in WA and a tribute to the saint who actively prayed the Rosary.
